13 Feels of a Last Semester Senior, As Told By OITNB

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

Senior year can really be a catch 22. While it is important to have your head in the game so you can get that job after graduation, it can be hard to fight the symptoms of senioritis. It only gets more difficult as the weather starts to break and we just cannot keep our attention on academics. This is a general feeling for all last-semester seniors and the ladies of Litchfield will explain that you are not the only one going through the phases of pre-graduation.

1. You no longer care how you and your best friend look dancing at the bar. At this point, you’re there to have a good time – not to make a good impression.

2. You want to go to every Pub Wednesday but you know that resume isn’t going to write itself.

3. Then you realize that if you do actually go to Pub Wednesday, you’ll have to socialize.

4. You have to deal with the guilt of saying goodbye to younger friends or seniors with an extra semester.

5. You realize you will soon be back to living with your siblings and not your friends.

6. But that also means home-cooked meals.

7. You no longer have patience for some of the comments made in the classroom.

8. You’re finally realizing that your philosophy classes have conditioned you to question everything.

9. You’re learning all of the components within job interviews, including how to dress.

10. You struggle with the cruel and unusual punishment of a last-semester group project.

11. You question just how important having a “grown up” job really is.

12. You go out Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday even though you know you’ll be buried in homework Sunday.

13. You feel like an authority figure to underclassmen.
