The Top Study Spots on Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at HWS chapter.

The key to a productive day or night is finding a spot on campus that allows you to get your work done in a timely manner. There are plenty of spots to go to with or without friends, depending on how much you have to get done. If you are starting an essay or studying for an exam and you are “stuck”, try moving to a new study area!

The Library

There are several different parts of the library to do work, depending on what kind of day or night it is. The first floor is the most comfortable, but you certainly won’t get too much done. This floor has students coming in or not usually to print and meet with a study group. The second floor also known as the “social floor” is the perfect spot to talk and do homework with friends. A table on the second floor with friends totally calls for a late night in the library. Lastly, the third floor is the place to go if you are slammed with homework. The library may be a very social place, but only if you make it.

ABP

Au Bon Pain also known as “ABP” can be a productive study space in between classes. This space is also good to hangout and crank some work out while grabbing coffee, sandwich, or cookie.  However, if you don’t want to socialize and be distracted by anyone, don’t go to ABP.

The Blackwell Room

This hidden room is on the second floor of Demarest Hall. The Blackwell Room is very calm and allows you to be productive without any distractions. This study spot is perfect to get some work done with friends or alone. There are both tables and cubby spots for individuals. The Blackwell definitely doesn’t stress you out with its aesthetic appearance and silence.

The Cellar Pub

Looking for a space to grab some food and have a study group session? The Cellar Pub is the perfect place! This space provides food, coffee, and large tables for a small or big study group. In addition, if you’re hungry while studying you are able to be productive while grabbing a bite to eat.

Classrooms in Academic Buildings

I think students often forget that classrooms are open at night and are usually empty. Whether you need to have a review session for an exam, or you need a quiet space to write an essay, empty classrooms will certainly help you be productive. Personally, Stern or Gulick Hall classrooms seem to be the most useful because of their large rooms and wide chalk boards.

So, if you haven’t already checked out all of these great study spaces, try one of them when you crack open that textbook tonight!
