Make Your Weekend Better – Eat Off Campus!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at HWS chapter.

Make your upcoming weekend even better by treating yourself and eating off campus! Downtown has some great restaurants for dinner before going out, breakfast for the morning after, or late night ice cream! Here are some awesome places to grab a bite with friends this weekend.

1. Char Burrito Bar

One of the most popular places to eat quickly and locally, located at 68 Castle St. Char Burrito Bar is better than your local Chipotle or Qdoba! The food is very fresh and offers a variety of options. Char will fulfill your craving in every way, whether you want a burrito, a rice bowl, a taco, or a salad they have it all! Add fresh chicken, pork, beef, or tofu for only $7.00. Craving some chips and guacamole?! Add it for just $3.75! Char is quick and doesn’t kill your bank account!

2. Eddie O’Briens

Feeling some pub food? Head downtown to Eddie O’Brien’s. If you want to go out to eat but don’t want a super fancy place, Eddie O’s it is! The menu consists of your typical pub food including burgers, salads, pastas, and sandwiches. Night in with the girls? Grab take out at Eddie O’Brien’s!

3.  Kindred Fare

Kindred Fare located at 512 Hamilton Street is a perfect place to go for birthday dinners with the girls, date night, or dinner with your parents when they visit! The delicious menu consists of fresh flatbread, fish, a variety of salads, various meats, and burgers. My favorite appetizer is the cheese plate; this will be gone in thirty seconds!

4.  Bagels and Cakes

A Saturday or Sunday morning isn’t complete without a trip to Bagels and Cakes. Whether you want just a bagel or some pancakes, home fries, eggs, and bacon, they have it all. In addition, their coffees hit the spot after a night out. Around 11 am this place is packed with HWS students and is a perfect to catch up about the night!

5.  Water Street Café

Water Street Café, located downtown, is the perfect diner spot for a heavy breakfast. If you are craving pancakes or French toast this is totally the spot to be. You will see familiar faces on a Saturday or Sunday morning, especially if there was a party the night before!

6.     Mr. Twistees

Do you miss your late-night ice cream runs at home? Mr. Twistees will fulfill this missing piece in your heart. It’s close to campus and has several options of soft serve, hard ice cream, or shakes. Plus, there’s a drive through! But hurry – get your ice cream fix before they close for the season! When they reopen in April, everyone goes wild.
