Women are continually breaking the standard. Becoming CEOs, political activists, and the face of multi-million dollar brands, today’s women are showing that we can truly be and do anything. The shackles that once had us bound to only being seen as helpmeets to husbands or nurturers to kids, have now been removed. Women are showcasing that they can remain being helpmeets and nurturers to their families, but also trailblaze in making an impact outside of their home. Women are to be celebrated. With March being International Women’s Month, it is imperative to explore some millennial women that are remaining their feminine, dainty selves while still being bosses.
To view a wide-range of the various areas in which millennial women are succeeding, I have selected five different women that are not of the same occupation but that have proved themselves to be #womenbosses. Featured in this article is: Abby Phillips, Nichole Lynel, Monique Rodriguez, Brandy, and Raya Clay.
Abby Phillips
Abby Phillips is a political correspondent and weekend anchor for CNN. Though being thirty-three years of age, and being a Black woman in a White male dominant role, she has taken the initiative to be the face of politics for CNN as a studious, profound, and confident reporter seen in her works as she covered the Trump Administration in 2017 and her continuous day-to-day political reports. She continues to blaze trails by landing a book deal with the publisher, Flatiron Books, and which she is writing a book titled, “ The Dream Deferred” which will be about Rev. Jesse Jackson’s run to become the 1988 Democratic presidential nominee. She is blazing trails in the political space but she is not one-dimensional, but in fact, is a wife and mom as well.
Nichole Lynel
Nichole Lynel is a force to be reckoned with. Her life exemplifies that of being a preserverer and triumphant. She has openly shared her testimony of being a child that was abandoned by her mother due to her mother’s substance abuse usage, and having to be raised by her grandparents, but despite her difficulties, she has become a leading figure in the fashion industry and recently landed a deal with Nordstrom, the store her grandmother would take her to for back to school shopping when growing up, and has become an official supplier for them. Being a boss in the fashion industry, along with exemplifying a beautiful life after facing tragedies, Nichole is a woman to be looked up to. Her instagram is: @nicholelynel
Monique Rodriguez
Walking down the hair-care aisle in Target, there is a brand that is set apart. Mielle Organics, a top-leading hair-care line for black women, was founded in 2014 by Monique Rodriguez. Packaging products in her home, to now having a warehouse in Indiana and being a supplier for Target, CVS, and Sally’s Beauty Supply, Mielle Organics has been the hair product that women have needed to take care of their hair. Outside of Mielle Organics, Monique Rodriguez expresses her faith in God and has an annual conference titled,”The Refresh Retreat,” that encourages business-minded women to excel in their career, faith, and personal life. Monique Rodriguez exemplifies herself as a woman that succeeds in the hair-care industry, faith, and as an encouragement to other women.
Brandy
Brandy has been an icon in the music and entertainment industry since her first album titled, “Brandy” in 1994, and her appearances on the show, “Moesha” as she played the main character. She has continued to show herself as a trailblazer in music as she is commonly known as the “vocal bible.” WIth a genuine and
humble heart, Brandy has announced that her 20th anniversary for her album titled, “Full Moon” and is approaching and through an Instagram trailer, she teased her fans with possible promotional material for new music celebrating the anniversary.
Raya Clay

Raya Clay, a native of Arkansas and a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a bachelorette in degree in broadcast journalism, has made exceptional strides in her career as a sports journalist as currently a senior producer at Fox Sports. On her Instagram, she continues to show young women in sports that they can succeed and create the career life they desire.
