Tracee Ellis Ross Announces Her Own Hair Care Line

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Howard chapter.

Known for her acting chops, exuberant fashion, and fabulous head of hair, actress and style icon, Tracee Ellis Ross has announced that she will be launching her own hair care line. She took to Instagram on September 3rd to introduce the world to PATTERN. The product line promises to take care of everyone’s curly and coily hair needs

In an Instagram post, Tracee Ellis Ross outlines the process of creating PATTERN. Ross has been working on the idea for this brand for 10 years, and has been working with chemists for two years to create the ideal product line. The line is a labor of love. The products are designed specifically to nourish curly, coily, and tightly patterned hair. In her announcement, Ross discusses the “unmet” needs of people with natural hair. The solution to these needs is bigger bottle sizes, affordability, and ingredients that actually work. There are many natural hair care lines, but PATTERN promises to be something special.

PATTERN has a  product line up that is chocked full of options for a complete wash day routine. The line  is launching with five products alongside a shower brush, microfiber towel, and styling hair clips. It  includes a hydrating shampoo, nourishing conditioner, and leave -in conditioner. The leave-in is intended to leave curls defined and moisturized. With PATTERN you have the option between two serums: either jojoba oil or argan oil. Both promise to boost the moisture of the hair, and of course, we’ll be buying both!

The outside of the bottles are just as exciting as what lies within. The packaging is bold and colorful, much like the style of CEO, Tracee Ellis Ross. Minimalist, but still fun.  The product containers feature graphics of a curly headed babe in bold black and white, with an orange label. The design is a refreshing shift from the gold and neutral toned designs that have become the standard lot of natural hair brands. Such lively aesthetics are to be expected from Tracee, whose Instagram stays on point. The Instagram page for PATTERN? Also flawless.

It makes sense that Tracee Ellis Ross would bring a hair care line into existence. She has been #HAIRGOALS for many black girls,  since she debuted. While these products won’t turn you into Tracee (we can dream, can’t we?), they will help you find the magic in your own hair. No matter what products you use or what curl pattern you have, you should rock your hair like a crown. After all, I’m sure that’s what Tracee Ellis Ross would like us to do. PATTERN is available on September 9th.
