MECCA- noun, mec·ca | \‘me-kǝ\ : a place regarded as a center for a specific group, activity, or interest
THE MECCA- noun, mec·ca | \‘me-kǝ\ : THEE Howard University, a place regarded as a center for black excellence i.e the future’s Black business owners, doctors, creators, etc.
When you think Howard, you think of Black excellence through creation and academia. Since 1867, Howard University has produced some of the world’s finest Black scholars who go out into the world fulfilling our ancestor’s wildest dreams every day.
Personally, I have only been a Bison since May, and in the short span of 4 months, I have had the pleasure of being submerged into Howard’s creative culture. When thousands of brilliant, beautiful, imaginative young Black students all gather in one area greatness is expected to be produced. The spectrum of creaters is large; from painters, to digital designers, to business owners, to bakers, to rappers and singers alike, the Mecca is home to it all.
Although I have yet to hit the Yard and begin my true Howard journey, the networking of Howard is still alive and well. With that being said here are some creative organizations and HU24 individuals who deserve some recognition and support.
