How to Use Thanksgiving Break to Be Productive

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Howard chapter.

We made it! The semester is finally over— almost. The only thing standing between you and the have a month of no school work is a few exams. Whether you went home, decided to enjoy a “Friendsgiving”, or stayed on campus; here are a few things you can do to set yourself up for success next semester.

  1. Reflect

Take some time to look back over the semester, and ask yourself how you think you did. Is there anything you could have done differently? What goals have you reached? Were you really #4.0 gang? What can you do with the last few weeks left in the semester to finish strong?

2. Set some goals

After looking back over the semester, look at what you can improve on and set some goals. The good thing about doing this now is that you have a few weeks to try out some new tricks before the semester ends.

3. Plan

Failing to plan is planning to fail. Planning is the key when it comes to using downtime to upgrade. Look at the goals you set for yourself and make a plan. Use the last few weeks of the semester to try out the plan. If it does not work, the great thing about life is that you can always go back to the drawing board and try again.

4. Prep

The semester is not over yet! Look over notes from class, make some flashcards for your exams, send out the last minute extra credit email if you need to. Secure the bag, sis! Take an hour or two a day to look for applications for scholarships, internships and opportunities. A lot of summer opportunities released their applications recently. Set yourself up for success!

5. Rest

With all of this bag securing and self-improvement, don’t forget to take some time for yourself; you deserve it. Eat until you can’t breathe, laugh with your cousins, treat yo’ self! Rest is needed for productivity. To get the most out of all of the work you’ve been putting in, you must take time to relax!

Even though this break is short, use these five tips and watch how you’ll flourish Spring semester!
