Over the years I have tested so many skin care regimes, from using tea tree oil as a spot treatment to using black soap as a face mask. Through the countless trial and error, I was able to pick some treatments that worked for me that I would love to share. Before we go any further I must add that I have oily sensitive skin and my tips work for me, but that may not be the case for everyone. I would recommend that you find out your skin type and research which products and tips are useful to you.

  1. Shea Moisture Black Soap can also be used as a face mask. I know this sounds a little odd, but the results are amazing. I learned about this tip through my friend, Mylan Johnson, and it has saved my skin. I normally do this before going to bed and I do like to sleep with the mask on. Use the soap on your face as normal, just don’t wash it off. Investing in a facial cleansing/exfoliating brush makes this tip better and is a great move for your skin.

  1. Activated Charcoal Powder and Aztec Clay are holy grails. I have been using Aztec Clay on and off for about a year and 3 months. The designated recipe is what has made me indecisive on the product. Because I have sensitive skin, I could not use apple cider vinegar on my face. I opted to only use water in the clay mixture, but the results were basically nonexistent. I had originally purchased some activated charcoal powder as a teeth whitener but after finding out how natural and beneficial it was I blended it with the clay mask and the results happened over night! All you must do is mix 2 tablespoons of Aztec clay, 1 teaspoon of activated charcoal and 4 tablespoons of water. Disperse the mixture onto your face evenly and let sit for 45 minutes- 1 hour. After taking off the mask, apply a toner of your choosing, I recommend Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel, and moisturize your face.

  2. Apricot Scrub gets rid of dead skin cells. Exfoliation is key. Our skin has a crazy amount of dead skin cells that clogs our pores. I use Wal-Mart brand Apricot exfoliation scrub to get the job done with my skin. The product is affordable and efficient especially for those who don’t have time to face mask. It is apart of my daily routine and I use it twice a day. Having a daily exfoliation product should be implemented into everyone’s skin care regime.

  3. Nothing beats a balanced diet. A balanced diet is necessary for a track to clear skin. I’m not saying go on a strict diet because even I would not do that, but make healthier and smarter choices when it comes to the food you are putting in your body. For example, during the week I lay off on soda, juices, and junk food; on the weekends I go all out. This allows me to make healthier choices most of the time and still enjoy all the food and snacks I love.
