Guys Need Love Too: What to Get Him for Valentines Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Howard chapter.

Having trouble finding the perfect gift? Well, listen up! If you’ve got a special someone in your life, follow this guide. You’ll be sure to find the perfect gift for the perfect guy.

First and foremost, grab the basics: chocolates and a Valentine’s card. (You could never go wrong with these!)

Now, let’s spice VDAY2021 up and find the perfect gift that pairs with that delicious chocolate and heart-warming card.

For starters, try speaking his love language.

For the “words of affirmation” guy, scratch the Valentine’s card and give him a sentimental, hand-written letter. This is a more verbal form of love so get ready to put words on paper.  Find an engravable gift which you can endorse an affectionate and memorable message; grab a jar and fill it with all the reasons you love your partner; and if it’s your first Valentine’s Day, grab the classic “Best Boyfriend Ever” mug.

For the “quality time” guy, plan the next date. Make reservations at a restaurant neither of you have tried, pack a hearty picnic to take to the park, or play the hottest two player card game out.

For the “acts of service” guy, pamper your man, boo! Make him breakfast bed. Help him clean and fold that abandoned laundry pile. Prepare him a snack while he’s playing video games. The ultimate gift would be an “acts of service” coupon book full of kind gestures to be performed at his request.

For the “physical touch” guy, give him a cozy weighted blanket; hold his hand on a nice walk around the neighborhood; give him a nice massage; cuddle in “big spoon, little spoon” position; play an intense game of Twister; and best of all, give a good ol’ back scratch.

For the “gifts” guy, try any of these that match his interests:

For the classic guy, give him a nice watch, a new leather wallet, or a personalized tool kit.

For the self care guy, give him a beard grooming kit, a new cologne, or barbering clippers.

For the guy who likes to workout, give him a new gym bag, a gallon water bottle with motivational statements, or wireless headphones.

For the guy who likes sweets, give him a basket of his favorite treats, a collection of jumbo gummies and chocolates, or a tin of warm, homemade cookies baked by you.

For the guy who likes reading, give him a Barnes and Nobles gifts card alongside the books he can’t wait to read next. Make this gift even better with personalized, custom bookmarks.

For the guy who likes gaming, give him a new controller (so you can play video games with him) or buy him a new video game. If you want to go all out, buy him the PS5 ;)

Don’t stress while trying to find the perfect gift. We know how difficult it can be finding the right present for him, but you have all the answers you need now. Enjoy your day of love!

XOXO
