We are well into the new year of 2018 but it’s never too late to let go of some extra baggage and start fresh with a new fling! Here are a few tips that can help you determine whether or not your significant other should make the cut into the new life journey you are about to venture out on.

1. If he’s not trying to see you grow, let him go.

Ladies, we are not remaining stagnant in 2018, this is our year of growth. You need to be with someone that waters you, not rips you out of the soil before you’re ready.

2. Fighting for his attention? NEXT.

There is no reason why you should have to schedule an appointment two weeks in advance to see your significant other just for him to cancel with a terrible excuse. College is a busy time for all of us but in order for a relationship to stay healthy, time needs to be made for each other. Like the fine Broderick Hunter once tweeted, “Go where you’re celebrated, not tolerated..” If you feel like you’re not getting the attention you deserve, it’s that time sweetheart.

3. If memories are the only thing you’re holding onto, GET OUT.

Girl, you can make new, better memories with someone else. Don’t let the past you guys had together or the fear of being alone keep you in something that is now toxic. You will always have those great memories but that’s exactly what they are… memories. Think about your situation in the present and you will get a lot more clarity.

2018 is the year when the focus needs to be on growing and investing in yourself, relationship or not. Being with someone can be a learning experience and letting go of something that is not for you is one of the biggest lessons.
