Why Tayshia Is a Better Bachelorette than Clare

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Holy Cross chapter.

Now that Clare has cut short her season of the Bachelorette and Tayshia has officially swept in, I figured I’d compile my reasons why I am much more excited for Tayshia’s season than I was for Clare’s.

First of all, Clare has already fished through some of the more questionable contestants that are a part of the big 30 on night one, which means Tayshia walked into a group of pretty good guys. Although Clare may have let go of some gems like Brandon that Tayshia didn’t get to meet, ABC still chose to bring in 4 new guys, and one of them already appears to be the villain. And of course, we cannot have a season without a villain!

Secondly, Tayshia seems a lot more open minded than Clare did for her season. Many people have brought up the issue that Clare was stuck during quarantine with the names of her contestants and took it upon herself to look them up, specifically Dale. I have to hand it to Clare — who wouldn’t look them up? We are all guilty of looking at someone’s social media to get a gauge of them before we meet them. However, Tayshia didn’t have this opportunity and therefore none of the guys have any leg up against each other like Dale did with Clare — it’s a lot more fair for them.

With this, Tayshia is going in just as blindly as the guys are. None of them knew who would be the next Bachelorette walking through the door, and she had no clue what group of guys she was walking in to. We’ve never had anything like this before, as usually the guys get a chance to at least look up the Bachelorette before pining for her. I think this will make for an even better season because it puts Tayshia and the guys on an even playing field. Clare seemed to make her season only about it being “her journey”, when in a real relationship both people matter just as equally. Because Tayshia and the guys are both being thrown into this new season so suddenly, I think it could force a good base for strong relationships!

Needless to say, Clare’s season was entertaining for the 4 weeks that it was. For these reasons, I am much more excited for Tuesday nights to come than I was a month ago.
