After being a passionate and loyal Apple Music user since I first got a phone in 2015, this past week I have officially made the switch to Spotify Premium. It’s taken some getting used to, and my friends promised they’d give me a Spotify crash course this weekend, but I am overall already very happy I made the switch.

One of the main reasons I made the switch is because Spotify includes audiobooks, podcasts and music all in one place. This is much more efficient and easier than having apple music, the Apple podcast app and paying for an Audible subscription. Furthermore, I am now paying for the Spotify student discount. This includes having the first month free, and is only $6 every month after that. You also get a free Hulu account with this subscription, so it’s definitely worth it.

Another big reason I had for switching is simply that Spotify has more music than Apple Music does– more live and differently recorded versions of songs that I love and I can now listen to ad-free. I’m excited to see what other versions of songs I can find as I fall deeper and deeper into the pit I’ve been falling into since starting this subscription.

Oftentimes with Apple Music I would feel at a standstill finding new songs and artists to listen to that suit my taste. I always heard that Spotify knows its users extremely well and recommends great music, and I can already vouch that this is true after just a week of having it. They’re constantly recommending music to me that I really like. The final reason I made the switch over to Spotify is I always heard about the group playlist feature– which is where you can make a joint playlist with other users or friends. While I have yet to use this, I am very excited to and for the group playlists to come!

In the end it’s to each their own, but as someone who has now used both Apple Music and Premium Spotify, I would recommend the latter. Happy listening!
