I  am someone whose music taste is constantly rotating and evolving. I love making new playlists, especially for specific moments in time. I have playlists ranging from my middle school years to the current day. Each playlist reminds me of where I was during that period of life and allows me to reflect on the person I was, and who I want to be. Additionally, creating all of these playlists allows me to explore all different types of music and discover new artists constantly. I’ve been listening to and working on my semester 1 playlist as a freshman at Holy Cross. I wanted this playlist to be meaningful, something I will enjoy listening to in the future to remind me of what life was like as an incoming freshman. I wanted this playlist to be full of songs that I could easily listen to while doing homework, studying, or simply just enjoying. Although my playlist is currently long, I’ve picked out a few of my favorite songs from this playlist that I would love to share.

August by Taylor Swift

Personally, I feel like this song is a staple for any semester 1 playlist. When I listen to this song, I am immediately taken back to those first few weeks of college when everything was new and exciting. I currently have a few Taylor Swift songs on my semester 1 playlist including Snow On the Beach, Cardigan, and Exile.

Pool by Still Woozy and Remi Wold

I am currently obsessed with any song by Still Woozy. This song in particular is a calming yet catchy song that is perfect for unwinding and relaxing. A few other songs by Still Woozy that I really like are Foolsong, Kenny, Get By, and All Along. All of these songs are also on my playlist as well!

Strawberry Wine by Noah Kahan

If im being honest, currently any song by Noah Kahan would be perfect for a semester 1 playlist. My favorite songs by Noah Kahan include Strawberry Wine, Maine, Mess, Stick Season, New Perspective, Glue Myself Shut, and She Calls Me Back.

Someone Else’s Problem by Ruel

I have been a fan of Ruel’s music since my freshman year of high school. He recently released a new song called Someone Else’s Problem, and I think it is the perfect addition to my semester 1 playlist.

Wasteland, Baby! By Hozier

I love any song by Hozier and have a few of his songs on my playlist including Would That I and Cherry Wine.

Some honorable mentions on my playlist include Saint Valentine by Gregory Alan Isakov, Trouble by Cage the Elephant, Saigon by Luke Hemmings, Go Away by Omar Apollo, Still a Friend by The Backseat Lovers, and Fool’s Gold by Briston Maroney. I definitely recommend checking these songs out and creating a semester playlist of your own current favorite pieces!
