As the weather begins to warm up and the semester comes to a close, it’s important to make sure you are staying both physically and mentally refreshed to finish off the semester strong.Â
For starters, it’s important to declutter your physical space, your dorm, backpack, desk, etc, and make sure you are mentally prepared for the long week ahead of finals. I know it’s easy to lose motivation in the Spring, with wanting to enjoy the warmer weather, so organizing and creating a positive environment can make you feel better about yourself and boost study habits. Embrace the sunlight, open your shades and windows, maybe even move your desk near a window, this will boost your mood and make you feel like you’re still enjoying the weather while getting your tasks completed.Â
Next, make sure you are having a clear mind by setting goals, maybe writing your schedule out in your planner, and finding a balance between all the fun activities available in the Spring and with your responsibilities. By evaluating your priorities, you are able to get what is most important out of the way, decreasing stress, and allowing for free time. Practicing mindfulness can be a good tool and can help you reflect on how this year has been going so far, and what else needs to be done to improve it! Stop and admire your surroundings and look around campus, this will help calm you when you feel overwhelmed during this busy time.Â
You can’t succeed if you don’t make time for yourself to reset and refocus on what is ahead.
