As the colder season is approaching, we all get a little down sometimes. Finals are coming up, and I know I will definitely get very busy. Recently, I have been trying to incorporate more little things into my life that count as self-care. I think it is helpful for physical and mental health.Â
The other day, I was feeling super anxious. I did not know what to do; my brain felt like all my thoughts were spiraling out of control. I decided to give it a try to write in my journal on my iPad. I always thought it wouldn’t help. I put on a cold face mask and wrote in my journal. About thirty minutes later, I felt way better. The temperature change of the cold face mask helped me distract myself and write down my thoughts.
I am trying to continue adding things to help me feel good. Lighting a lovely-scented candle can help you feel relaxed. It is cheap and fun. Put on a nice-scented lotion or oil on your body to help the dry skin from Winter. Not only does this help physically, but it is also a good action to get in tune with your senses.Â
Another thing to do is watch a show with your friends. Sometimes putting on a silly show can be fun and also doesn’t take a lot of effort. I find myself just scrolling through TikToks at night, because I don’t have much time during the day, actually, to watch anything. However, I’ve been trying to watch a little bit of a show even by myself, and it feels different than doomscrolling.Â
Take yourself on a date. I know that this idea sounds stupid, but get yourself coffee or lunch. Sometimes having time to yourself can be healthy. It is good to treat yourself because you deserve it!
