Ranking The Vault Songs from “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Holy Cross chapter.

Disclaimer: I am a MASSIVE Taylor Swift fan. April 9th was one of the best days of my life, and not just because I got my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. I, like all Swifties, have been eagerly waiting for Taylor to re-record her albums ever since she announced that she would. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is the first album re-recorded, and it couldn’t be more perfect. In addition to all of the original an bonus tracks, Taylor also added six songs from the vault. Here is my current ranking of the vault songs, which is obviously subject to change depending on the day and my emotional state.

“Mr. Perfectly Fine”

This song is perfect for dancing and singing in the car with the windows down and the sunroof open.

“You All Over Me”

That last chorus ruins me every. single. time.

“Don’t You”

Oof, this one’s a doozy. It’s “Last Kiss” and “Dear John” levels of sad. It’s best listened to while laying on your bedroom floor having an existential crisis.

“We Were Happy”

The bridge, a staple in T-Swift songs, is fire, but the best part of this song is the way she pronounces “baby” in the chorus. It has subtle traces of Moira Rose and I’m very into it.

“That’s When”

The lyrics in this song make absolutely no sense, but it’s a bonafide bop.

“Bye Bye Baby”

I really like this song, but it is definitely my least played of the vault songs. However, it grows on me each time I listen to it.

Feel free to challenge this ranking. I’m open to any and all arguments and suggestions. If you need me, I’ll be listening to Fearless (Taylor’s Version) until further notice.
