I’ve been a podcast lover for a while now. It all began during quarantine, when I was endlessly bored and looking for things to fill the seemingly endless days. I’ve always been a lover of true crime and documentary style entertainment, so I started off by listening to crime-based podcasts. Since then, I’ve grown to fall in love with wellness and lifestyle podcasts as well! Below is a lovingly curated list of my favorites, give the ones that interest you a listen!

  1. True Crime Obsessed with Patrick Hinds and Gillian Pensavalle

This podcast was the first one that I listened to, and also the first one that introduced me to the true crime scene in podcasting. Since then, I’ve been a devoted weekly listener. Patrick and Gillian bring humor to the sordid tales that they discuss, but also treat stories with the utmost respect to victims and advocates. They definitely have some hot takes, but they also do a great job of balancing the morbid with the hilarious.

  1. Let’s Go to Court with Brandi Egan and Kristin Caruso

On their show, Brandi and Kristin discuss and share true crime stories, with more of a focus on the legal vision. Each week, Brandi and Kristin choose stories to share with us, and discuss cases from their trial proceedings to the eventual consequences. This show is another one that makes me laugh, but also remains respectful to those involved in the stories that are told. I definitely think that hearing about the legal side of things is super interesting, and this is one of the only podcasts I’ve found that is able to focus on legality in non-boring detail.

  1. Miss Congeniality with Eli Rallo

I first found Eli (aka the Jarr) on tik tok, and have followed along with her social media ever since. Eli is a graduate of both the University of Michigan and Columbia, and shares advice about her life as a twenty-something year old navigating NYC. She gives great advice about relationships, friendships, and independence through personal stories and experiences. I’ve found her stories and amiable personality to be particularly helpful as a young woman who will soon be living her post-grad years like Eli.

  1. Even the Rich by Wondery

This podcast is definitely a unique and interesting one. It tells the complete stories of the wealthiest people and families around the world, detailing the good, the bad, and the ugly. The episodes on the Kardashians, the Murdochs, and the Kennedys have been the most interesting to me, but I think that all of these stories are super well told and teach me something new about families that are world-famous in each episode.

  1. Generation Why by Wondery

Created by the same network as Even the Rich, Generation Why pioneered true crime in the podcasting world, premiering in 2012. Aaron and Justin give their opinions on controversies, mysteries, and conspiracies. If you don’t really have a penchant for the mixture of comedy and true crime, this podcast really cuts to the chase and tells stories directly. I definitely enjoy listening to Aaron and Justin and look forward to their episodes every week!
