I don’t know about you guys, but I am so excited to go home and celebrate Thanksgiving break with my hometown friends and family! Although it’s a relatively short amount of time off, I am so excited to make the most of it and enjoy every second of it until I’m home again for Christmas break. Here is my top 5 list of things to do and ways to spend Thanksgiving!
- See your friends and family you haven’t seen in months!
- I am so lucky to only live an hour away from home, meaning that I have more opportunities to see my friends and family than most. My parents can come and visit whenever they want, and I can also go home whenever I want, which is very reassuring for me. However, I do have friends who went farther away for school, and I haven’t seen them since August, so I am so excited to see them again.
- Thanksgiving dinner
- This one is kind of a given since it’s the whole reason we’re even home on break, but once again so exciting as a college student. After surviving on dining hall food for the past 3 months, you’ve earned your Thanksgiving dinner plate. I can’t wait to enjoy the stuffing, mashed potatoes, and most importantly, turkey and pumpkin pie!
- Black Friday shopping
- The nostalgia I get from Black Friday shopping with my mom and grandmother is unmatched, and I’m very excited to go this year and buy early Christmas presents for all of my friends and family. The best part of the entire day is finding all of the discounts and using codes for additional money off, and of course, the feeling of buying new clothes.
- Baking for Thanksgiving
- Every year, this is something that I do with my mom to help her prepare for the feast that will be displayed on our table on Thanksgiving Day. My personal favorite thing to bake is Swedish Apple Crisp, which is truly one of the most delicious things to ever grace my tongue. I highly recommend making this for anyone who loves any apple-flavored treat!
- Watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade
- Last but not least, is watching the incredible tradition of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade on TV! I love watching all the different floats and balloons go by and calling out my favorites. This is something I have done since I was young, and it’s a wonderful source of entertainment and nostalgia for me.Â
I’m so incredibly excited for Thanksgiving, and I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday filled with family and friends. I hope everyone can enjoy Thanksgiving in the way I am and feel grateful for all the incredible things in their life!
