HALLOWEEN COSTUMES FROM ONE BRUNETTE TO ANOTHER

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Holy Cross chapter.

Are you looking for a somewhat original costume as a brunette? Maybe you’re blonde but want to wear a dark-haired wig. I got you covered. This Halloween season is quickly approaching, from Harry Styles’s Don’t Worry Darling out in theaters to TikTok’s circling with costume inspiration, especially for college students. Below, I’ve put together a list of cute and convenient ideas to recreate on a budget, on your own, or with a group.

First things first, Megan Fox. In particular, her iconic schoolgirl outfit channels her inner Britney Spears ‘ … Baby One More Time’ moment. A 2-in-1 opportunity to embody Spear’s popstar attitude with the brunette features of Fox; what could be better than that? A schoolgirl also calls for a simple outfit, easy for college students on a budget. Fox was pictured on set in 2015 adorning a plaid miniskirt, a white cropped button down, and black knee socks to match her short black cardigan.

Olivia Rodrigo and Madison Beer have simultaneously rocked the popstar princess dynamic while on their respective album tours. Combining delicate fabrics with corsets, lace, fishnets, and hair bows adds an edgy flair to a fairytale lookbook.

An ode to my childhood and a seemingly perfect group costume is the girl group Destiny’s Child. Known for their 90’s style and infamous R&B discography, they make for great outfit inspiration to match with your besties. Are you looking for a specific moment to recreate? Here’s a link to some of their most famous fashion statements: https://www.vogue.com/slideshow/destinys-child-best-fashion-moments.

A fan-favorite play and a well-known movie remake is Romeo + Juliet 1996. Although the young DiCaprio stole the hearts of more than just Juliet, her white dress and angel wings represent a tragic love story, the perfect Halloween theme.

Always seeing everyone dress up as Regina George? Try Gretchen Weiners this year instead; her dad did invent the toaster strudel, after all! Combining Halloween and the holiday scene is the best of both worlds; all you have to buy is a Santa Claus outfit! Complete this costume idea as a group or go solo. Either work!
