A Guide to Fall Flavors Around Worcester

The air is crisp, foliage is falling, and fall flavors are on the menu! There is nothing better than ordering a seasonal drink at a fun café. As a college student, I am always on the lookout for a new, fun iced latte near our campus.

Recently, my friends and I ventured to August Coffee, a locally owned café approximately ten minutes from our campus. Upon walking in, I discovered a variety of new seasonal lattes: Pumpkin Pie, Almond Croissant, and Apple Cider Donut. I was eager to try the Almond Croissant latte, but they tragically ran out of their syrup shortly before I arrived. However, pumpkin is a favorite of mine, so I knew I had to try their Pumpkin Pie latte. Sweet and creamy, it was the perfect way to start my day. If you are not into flavor-heavy coffee, they also have a delicious Salted Brown Butter latte, featuring a smooth, rich, and slightly salty flavor. In addition, they have a variety of egg sandwiches to choose from that pair perfectly with their lattes. I am curious to try “The Maple Stack,” which features sausage, egg, cheddar, and their homemade maple butter on a brioche. A favorite of mine is “The Bodega Breakfast” sandwich – bacon, egg, cheese, hash brown, and ketchup on a brioche roll. Truly, it is a classic breakfast to start your day.

Another great spot for fall flavors is Flaherty’s Coffee and Food, formerly known as Cake Shop Cafe, in Millbury. It has a great, homey feel with a variety of pastries and drinks to choose from. Similar to August, all of their syrups are homemade, giving each latte the perfect amount of flavor. They have a great fall feature, the Maple Pumpkin Spice Latte, which is topped with their homemade Maple Sea Salt whipped cream. The mix of maple and pumpkin makes a bold, warm, and spiced flavor that truly defines the fall season.

One of my classic picks for coffee is Acoustic Java, a very short trip from campus. Their lattes never fail me, and they have a perfectly bold roast that makes their coffee a reliable choice at any time of the year.

Whether you are craving a classic coffee or are in search of a new fall flavor, Worcester has so many cafés to choose from. Finding a seasonal drink is just another reason to appreciate the changing seasons.
