Recently, Hollins University
students have become engulfed in the online meme sensation. After a surge of Hollins-themed memes came onto the Facebook scene, students decided to make a group depicting typical Hollins experiences through memes. While I usually resist everything technology and computer-oriented, I must admit that I have jumped on the meme bandwagon and even went so far as to make one myself.
What makes Hollins memes unique is their direct application to everyday events all Hollins students encounter. Whether it’s the treacherous walk to Siberia, the trials of senioritis, or the perils of cooking in the hill houses, everyone can relate to these hilarious pictures. The best thing about the memes group is that anyone can submit a picture with their own captions. After going to the meme-building website, students are able to choose a picture that best depicts their caption and type the text right onto the photo. The meme can then be immediately posted on the group website and shared with others.
All of the memes posted in the group are directly related to Hollins life and very funny. Here are the ones that Her Campus voters considered the funniest.
6. The Most Interesting Man in the World– After living in the hill houses, any Hollins student can understand the difficulties of trying to make a simple meal of easy-mac in a building where smoke detectors go off every time you so much as glance at the oven.
5. Demonic Husky– Ok, so obviously our Senior Sisters aren’t demonic huskies, but the exaggeration of this meme is what makes it so funny.
4. The Hunger Games – The housing lottery is undoubtedly one of the most stressful end of the year events at Hollins. This meme perfectly encompasses the sense of dread students feel when waiting for their names to be called to pick their dorm room for
the following year.
3. Ridiculously Photogenic Guy – If you have ever had a male visitor on the Hollins campus, you know how difficult it is for him to evade the Hollins Security Male-Extraction task force.
