It’s the best time of year! Starbucks signature winter drinks have returned, adorable Christmas movies are popping up left and right, and cozy sweaters are the best things to wear. Nowadays, everyone is in the mood for the holidays months before they even get here. If you’re having trouble getting in the mood for the holidays, here are some ways to get you in the spirit.

1. Be inclusive: Remember that this season isn’t all about Christmas. Several other holidays occur during this time, and you don’t want to leave anyone out of the festivities. Make sure you pay attention to all of your friends and be mindful of what holiday they are observing.

2. Start decoratingPutting up decorations around your house, or even just in you room will make the space feel warm and cheery. Even if you do something small, it will help to get you in the holiday mood. Try garlands, lights, or cute little knick-knacks you can put on your desk, the door, or little shelves somewhere in your space.

3. Crank up the holiday tunes: Personally I think playing holiday music can change your entire mood for the better. When the music is played too early, it can be slightly annoying, but it’s perfect when the time is right. Find your favorite cover of a song and blast it as loud as you like.

4. Go gift shopping: Plan a shopping trip with your besties, and start buying gifts for everyone on your list. Shopping malls and stores are usually already decorated, so the trip will be even more fun. You don’t have to spend a fortune, but let your friends and family know how important they are to you.

5. Watch holiday movies: With Netflix, Hallmark, and Lifetime, there are so many options for adorable movies. Most of the movies are typically set at Christmas time, but regardless of what holiday you observe, they are so cute and cozy. Grab some popcorn and a blanket, and have a movie marathon.

There are endless things you could do to get in the holiday spirit, these are just a few of my favorites! Create new traditions, spend time with family and friends, and remember what the holiday season is all about.
