Her Campus is the #1 online magazine for college-aged women in the US and Hofstra’s branch of Her Campus is looking to expand our staff for the fall of 2012! This is a great way to gain experience in writing, interviewing, online formatting and magazine publishing.
HC Hofstra is looking to expand our staff by creating section editor positions for 4 of our weekly sections: “Campus Couture”, “Campus Cutie”, “Campus Celebrity” and “The Week Ahead”. We are also looking to fill Social Media Manager and Fundraising Manager positions. You do not have to be a communication major or even a girl to be a part of the HC Hofstra team! You just need to have a passion for magazine media! Descriptions of each position are below.
Campus Couture Editor: You are constantly scoping out fun and individual fashions on Hofstra’s campus to showcase for the site. You will be responsible for finding one co-ed a week, male or female, who exhibits unique fashion sense beyond the cookie-cutter trends, snapping a pic of them on campus and breaking down their outfit head to toe.

Campus Cutie Editor: If you’re looking for an excuse to strike up a convo with Hofstra’s hottest guys (and occasionally girls) here you go! You’re responsible for showcasing the cutest co-eds at Hofstra. Some weeks HC execs will be looking for a certain type of guy, like cuties with glasses or cuties who play an instrument, so keep your eyes peeled for all demographics.

Campus Celebrity Editor: With all the exceptional talent on Hofstra’s campus, your job is to give someone who’s thoroughly involved at Hofstra or is doing something amazing outside of school a spotlight. This weekly post can have just about anyone as the profile subject, from a Nobel Prize winning professor, to the student body president, to Kate and Willy.

The Week Ahead Editor: This is a new section we’re incorporating to HC Hofstra’s line-up and will be filed under the ‘Upcoming Events’ category. As editor of this section, you will come up with five bullet points of events or fun facts about Hofstra for the week. This can be anything from advertising common hour events to reporting the estimated weather highs for the week. You will have freedom to deem what’s important, “need to know”, factoids for our readers.
The Social Media Manager will man our Twitter and Facebook accounts, always publicizing new posts, engaging with collegiettes and driving traffic to our site.
The Fundraising Manager will be in charge of coming up with collaborative ideas to raise our revenue by hosting atrium table bake sales for example.
