Cute Fall Date Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

Crisp air, changing leaves, apple cider… Fall is a magical time, collegiettes! Even though summer is over, there’s no reason to head indoors when looking for something to do on a date. Dinner and a movie is so passé!

Here are some ideas for autumn dates as spicy as your pumpkin latte:

1. Pumpkin Picking

What is fall without pumpkin picking? There are dozens of farms all over Long Island where you and your date can scope out the best pumpkins.  After you find the right pumpkin, challenge each other to make the best Jack-o-lantern.

2. Apple Picking

If you don’t like pumpkins, try apple picking instead. Bring your haul back to campus or home and make apple pie. Even if it doesn’t come out good, baking together is adorable and delicious! Enjoy the fruits of your labor with some warm apple cider or hot chocolate.

3. Haunted House

Halloween is one of the best things about fall. Get spooked with your date at a haunted house!  There’s nothing like being scared out of your minds to bring you two closer together…literally. Holding hands through creepy hallways… the stuff romantic movies are made of!

4. Fall Festivals

Hofstra’s Fall Fest may be over, but be sure to take advantage of the great fall festival scene on Long Island.  Carnivals, rides, games… this is your chance to re-create the beginning of The Notebook! But please, stay seated on the Ferris Wheel. That’s definitely a move only Ryan Gosling can pull off.

5. Hayrides

Bring a blanket and some hot cider for a romantic hayride under the stars! A lot of the farms that have pumpkin patches also have hayrides. Cuddle up as you take in the farm around you. But try to go at night to avoid the rush of little kids during the day.

6. “Touch” Football

Fall and football are synonymous! Grab a ball and head to Eisenhower Park for a game of “touch” football. The park even has mini golf and batting cages if you two are feeling competitive. If sports aren’t your thing, just go for a walk around the park.  The changing leaves are gorgeous, the perfect backdrop for adorable pics!

7. Movie Marathon

If you’re going to stay inside, do it right and have a Halloween movie marathon in your dorm. Sparks will fly as you both reach for the popcorn.  Play board games, make yummy snacks, even build a blanket fort. Sometimes there’s nothing better then a night in!

No reason for your love life to cool down with the temperature, keep it hot by trying out these cute autumn date ideas!

Brianna is a proud Long Islander finishing her graduate journalism degree here at Hofstra. The East Meadow native wears many hats on campus, including Assistant News Director at WRHU, Grad Assistant at the Center for Civic Engagement and of course Treasurer here at Her Campus Hofstra! Brianna is currently interning at Fox News. But until she can go set the journalism world on fire, she’ll just have to settle for planning adventures abroad, binge watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix and commiserating about her beloved New York Jets.
