Creative and Crafty Valentine’s Day Gifts for Anyone You Love

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

So many online lists of Valentine’s Day gift ideas are specifically geared towards a certain type of relationship or gender. Here are eight ideas that are super creative, unique and great for anyone on a budget!

Jar of messages

You’ve probably seen people on TikTok make their loved ones a jar of messages before since it is affordable and extremely personal. Amazon has lots of different types of capsules, paper and jars so anyone can find what suits their gift best. You can also add your own touch by adding ribbon, yarn or a note to the jar. Plus, if you don’t want to buy a premade set, it’s super easy to cut strips of paper and use any container you already have!

A book of why you love them

Another Amazon find, this one is great for if you’ve procrasinated gift shopping for a little longer than you would have liked. The brand Knock Knock has lots of different fill-in books so you’re bound to find one for the person you’re shopping for! These specific books are pretty small, making them the perfect thing to pair with a box of their favorite candy.

Deck of screenshots

If you and your loved one text all the time, this is such a cute way to remind them of some silly and sentimental online moments! TikTok user @sighlur went above and beyond for this by using a binder machine and laminating each card, but this is still absolutely adorable if all you have is a hole puncher and some yarn to hold it together. This is a fairly time-consuming project though, so keep that in mind when deciding what to make!

memory jar

If you have some small items saved from a special moment you shared with your person, a memory jar is a great way to preserve and remind them of it. For example, if you picked up some seashells during a beach trip, you could put some fake (or real if you have access to it!) sand into a jar and adorn it with fake (again, or real!) seaglass and the shells you have. Adding a rope around the top of the jar can give it an extra beachy feel too. No two jars will look exactly the same which makes this such a special idea. And you could even turn the creation of these into a night together!

Jewlery

You can do so much with a simple necklace chain and a charm! Whether the pendant is something you found together or just reminded you of them, this is such a sweet way for your loved one to be able to always have you with them. Depending on what you want to make, you may be able to do this with items you already have! Of course, necklaces aren’t the only option, a beaded bracelet with a word or phrase on it is equally as thoughtful and cute.

Love letter photo

One of the most simple things you can make to show someone your appreciation is to write them a letter. Rather than just writing a letter on paper, write them a message on the back of a printed photo of the two of you that you love. It may not seem like much, but this is a gift that is totally swoon-worthy (and adding a bouquet of flowers to this wouldn’t hurt either).

texts that made me smile

Did you really like the idea for the deck of screenshots but felt that you didn’t have enough to fill a full deck? Then this is the perfect alternative! Rather than using full screenshots, you can print out individual texts that remind you of why you love your person! This could contain short exchanges between the two of you or you could even make this for yourself to look back on when you need some uplifting.

Open when letters

If you want to give them something they can enjoy year-round, “open when” letters are the perfect thing for you. The great thing about this idea is that there’s no limit to your creativity! You can make your notes as small as index cards or as intricate as the one shown in this video by @0pen.when.letters. You can find a lot of different prompts online and even make your own that fit your relationship to the person you’re giving it to.

The best thing about all of these ideas? They can easily be used for any occasion and any person in your life!

Gift giving is meant to be about the thought behind it, not the money spent! All of the ideas listed here would absolutely put a smile on anyone’s face if they recieved it and Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to give someone a present.
