You plan to meet up with friends one night, when one drink evolves into more. It turns into a lousy morning the next day. You may experience a pounding headache and queasiness. It’s that dreadful hangover you didn’t want to get – but it happened. You were having way too much fun. But, don’t worry, we did our homework and found five tips to help get rid of that lousy hangover.

1. Drink water

It’s important to stay hydrated while you drink, but if you bypassed that rule make sure you drink up the next day. Drinking water will help flush out the impurities from your system.

2.  Drink other fluids

Yes, it’s important to drink plenty of water, but your body needs more. You should drink electrolyte-fluid drinks, too — such as sports drinks, coconut water, or bouillon soup. This will help restore the salt and potassium you lost.

3. Eat a light breakfast

Having a full greasy breakfast could do more harm than good. You want the food to help your stomach not make it worse. It’s best to eat light, such as cereal or toast. And, although that may sound boring, your body will thank you later.

4. Sleep

Sleeping is a huge factor when you have a hangover. If you’re lucky to have the following day to rest, take long naps. It will help heal the body from all the damage caused the night before. When you’re hungover, the body doesn’t get enough sleep.

5. OTC Pain medication

If you’re in need of a quick fix the next morning this could be an option. It’s not ideal, but some find it helpful. You can go to a local pharmacy and get over the counter medication (Advil or Tylenol) to help subside your headache. Important tip: drink plenty of water throughout the day!

Hopefully, these tips will help cure that hangover.
