Finals are coming up, which means we’re all stressed and it can feel like we have to do a million things at once. The library is jam-packed with students and chaos, and everyone is living off coffee. After making study guides for all your classes and pulling an all-nighter to catch up on that one awful class, everyone needs at least a few good cries to get through the home stretch of the semester. If your dorm isn’t suitable, don’t worry because here’s a list of the top five best underrated crying spots on Hofstra’s campus!

The one-person bathroom in the basement of the library

This place is awesome because there is almost always no one in here, especially at night. It’s perfect for when you’re in the library studying and need a quick cry break, and then you can go right back to trying to fit an entire semester’s worth of information into your brain.

The meditation garden in the student center

Bundle up, it’s cold outside, but this is place is awesome for those late-night breakdowns. Perhaps you’re walking back to your dorm from spending 8 hours in the library, and you’re on the verge of tears because of all your exhaustion; the meditation garden is perfect for a quick pit stop to let that ugly cry out.

Any empty classroom

Emily Lowe Hall, Breslin, Roosevelt – the opportunities are endless! Did you just get out of a review and realize everything you thought you knew about a class is wrong? Stop by an empty classroom and let it out.

The little gazebo by the Mack Center

This one is for those walks you take during finals week when you think to yourself, “At what cost?” It’s small, isolated and perfect for a good breakdown.

Outside of Hofstra Hall late at night

Crying while looking at pretty lights? Yes, please! When the south side of campus is empty and those lights on Hofstra Hall turn on, it’s tears time, baby. Although this can start out as stress crying, it will inevitably turn into crying because of how fast this semester went by and the realization that you have to leave your friends will hit. Good luck with this one!

And there you have it! These are just a few of the best places to let those tears out on campus. Remember that everyone is going through it this week, and more importantly, remember to still make time to hang out with your friends before the semester is officially over. Happy finals week, everyone!
