Last week it was time for one of the biggest (if not the biggest) student celebrations of the year: Vappu. Vappu takes place on May 1st  but the main event is actually the day before that.

As Vappu is traditionally celebrated outdoors, it was nice to get some beautiful warm sunshine. Colourful Vappu balloons were spreading  the spirit of the holiday at Central Railway Station.

The English studens’ organisation SUB ry held their traditional Vappu reception at Metsätalo. You know some serious partying is about to happen when SUB’s punch canister makes an appearance.

Unicafe had also decorated accordingly.

Since the weather was so nice we spent the afternoon and evening on a picnic enjoying the sunshine and good company. We were the first to arrive but later on the park was full of students celebrating spring.
