These colorful overalls are a prominent part of the university experience. University of Helsinki has different colored overalls for all the various majors, and May Day Eve is arguably the best time for checking out the different overall patches that university students have collected over the years.

Students keep systematically filling out all the empty spots on their overalls with patches from parties, pub crawls and other events. Most of them also like to represent their own student organizations and clubs by wearing their overall patches.

The lucky students who have a significant other can show it off by sewing the pant leg from their girl- or boyfriend’s overalls in place of their own. This is a fun way to bring a bit of color into your overalls and separating them from everyone else in your major.
