Makeup for Zoom Meetings: All the Tips You Need to Impress on Camera

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Helsinki chapter.

Also, tips for stable makeup that will last even when wearing a face mask.

Now that almost everything happens at home, and even lectures or business meetings are done via computer, you must be wondering how to do proper make-ups for online meetings.

Being homebound and isolated from others does not mean that we should stop taking care of ourselves. Especially if you’re working and your job requires frequent contact with your colleagues via zoom, or even if you want to organize a virtual coffee with your friends, you will often wonder what the best make-up look for your online calls is. Well, I am here to help you out! I have gathered all those tips that will highlight your features on camera and keep your make-up stable if you need to leave the house, wearing the mask for many hours.

For a perfect make-up for your online meetings, but also for those of you who go out wearing a mask, follow these steps:

# 1 Do not forget to use a primer for stability in make-up – especially if you have oily or combination skin. Spread it gently without pressing it on the skin. If your skin is dry, the truth is that you do not need it very much, but if you want, you can put some of the product only on the points where the mask rests.

# 2 Shadow primer is just as important if you plan to paint your eyes. It will help keep your shadow stable.

# 3 Pay attention to the amount of foundation. With foundation, less is more, so the less you use, the better the result! If you have clean skin without redness and other rashes, I suggest you skip foundation altogether.

# 4 Use concealer under the eyes to cover any dark circles and bags.

# 5 Use matte eye shadows instead of iridescent. Shininess on the camera makes you look greasy. Also, always go for natural shades.

# 6 For extra emphasis, you can outline the eyes with a black or brown pencil. Finish with a coat (or two) of mascara – you do not need more, especially if you have long natural lashes.

# 7 Don’t forget the eyebrows! Eyebrows are the frame of our faces. Fill them with an eyebrow pencil and comb them with eyebrow gel – make sure they look natural!

# 8 Apply a good all over the face powdering with a transparent powder, especially in the places where the mask rests. The powder helps stabilize the make-up through preventing the appearance of unwanted glosses on the computer camera.

# 9 Apply a lip balm that highlights your natural color. If you still want to put on some lipstick, I suggest choosing one that will not leave easily if you need to wear a mask.
