ArtHelsinki 2014 fair and Habitare design fair went all out this year: Messukeskus was packed with people who got to enjoy the amazing contemporary art and the astounding design pieces that were set up all over the building. Everywhere you looked, there was something colorful and inspired, or sleek and modern. The different fairs that Messukeskus hosts are excellent places for students with a strict budget to go and enjoy a lot of art or design or books (or whatever the fair happens to be centered around) at once.

Habitare showcases lots of design from independent craftsmen but also from furniture stores so if you’re looking for great inspiration for your first apartment or trying to find a few quality pieces to spice up your student apartment, it’s the place to go! This year the selection was excellent and the immense amount of discounts at the fair didn’t hurt either!
I’d suggest going to the event next year (student discount is available for the tickets!) if you have any interest in interior design, art or antiques (the annual Antique fair is also held at the same time as Habitare, ArtHelsinki and ValoLight).
