3 Most Instagrammable Places on City Centre Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Helsinki chapter.

Those of us who have lectures on the City Centre Campus are lucky enough to get to spend time in some of Helsinki’s oldest and most beautiful buildings. These are not only inspiring places to study but offer plenty of opportunities for stunning photography, too. From old and iconic to modern and award-winning, the campus has it all if you’re feeling artistic and looking for that perfect shot for Instagram, or just want to find a peaceful spot to sit down and admire your surroundings.

1. University Main Building

Forming one side of the iconic Senate Square, the facade of the historical Main Building is an impressive sight, and it’s no less pretty on the inside. The beautiful statues and stylish pillars create a distinguished atmosphere and there are plenty of instagrammable angles to be found in between classes!

2. Kaisa House

You might have noticed the groups of tourists occasionally crowding the lobby of the library, and there’s a good reason for that: the building, opened in 2012, has won several architecture awards. The white, minimalist architecture makes for a calm study environment and the unexpected, quirky shapes that can be found all around the building are just made to be photographed.

3. The National Library

Nothing embodies that university feeling like a nice library, and if the modern aesthetic of Kaisa doesn’t float your boat you can head to the former Main Library of the university, now known as the National Library. The comforting smell of old books unfortunately can’t be captured in photos but the stunning, detailed architecture can. Just be respectful of everyone working and studying there and leave any big bags or coats in the lockers they provide.

Take a study break and go shoot, collegiettes!
