Are you a fan of contemporary art? If yes, then you probably checked out the week long Pow!Wow! Hawaii annual art festival that took place throughout Valentine’s Day week.  Although it originally started off in Hong Kong in 2010, the festival has since moved to Honolulu and continues to grow by drawing in over 100 international participants. Pow!Wow! is looking to expand to Portland, Oregon and Israel in the coming years.

It was a big event to celebrate contemporary art, music, and culture.  In addition to seeing some AMAZING murals in the Kaka’ako district of Honolulu, there was something for everyone to enjoy with events such as lectures, musical performances, galleries, and exhibitions to checkout. Some particularly special events this year included the screening of “The Legend of Cool Disco Dan,” a street art legend in the Washington, D.C. area, by the producer of the documentary, Roger Gastman.  Also for the first time, Hawaii got to see the works of contemporary artists Casey “Eklips” Zolton and PM Zenore on exhibition.

The week ended with a block party that shut down 2 blocks of Auahi Street to celebrate the great work that had been created that week and featured musical guests such as The Green, Pow!Wow! School of Music, and DJ Mr. JPatt.

Hawaii is already counting down the days until Pow!Wow! Hawaii 2015!
