Oahu’s Top Model, Annika Bauer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hawaii chapter.
Meet Annika Bauer, a Southern California native signed to NoTies and Niche Model Management. Look familiar? That’s because you’ve probably seen her in ads for San Lorenzo and even Skechers, but don’t let the pretty face fool you, Bauer is one sharp cookie currently working on degrees in Business and German (she’s fluent!).

Bauer’s start in modeling started when she was 16 at the U.S. Open of Surf in Huntington Beach, California. “I was scouted by NoTies Model Management,” she say. “My dad came with me to the agency in San Diego to sign the contract. He was so excited you would have thought he was the one getting signed.”

With NoTies, Bauer was able to book her first big job with Skechers in 2012 after her move to Hawaii. The shoot lasted two days and afterwards, she was able to stay for a little while and hang out with her parents, which was a plus since she didn’t get to visit for Thanksgiving. Since then, she has been seen in HiLuxury Magazine, Waikiki Magazine, and San Lorenzo ads; her hardwork is due in part to practice and inspiration from Candice Swanepoel. “I have a girl crush,” she says. “That little South African minx.”

Although Bauer is well known around Oahu for her modeling prowess, she doesn’t let the craziness get to her head. “I don’t consider myself a celebrity; broke college student lifestyle just ain’t glamorous enough,” she says. Plus, she has bigger plans than just modeling. “In ten years, ideally, I’ll be reaping the benefits of my successful businesses, traveling, and seeing the world with my future hubby, who may or may not be Chris Pratt.”

For those looking to get into the industry, Bauer has a few words. “Stay true to yourself and don’t get caught up in the craziness of the industry. Love yourself, respect yourself, and be yourself! Embrace your inner weird.”

To see more of Bauer, visit her Instagram or head to your local San Lorenzo retailer.
