Hailey is 20 and a junior at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is pursuing a degree in Marketing with a minor in Fashion Design and Merchandising. Hailey grew up in a military family, so she has lived in six different states, but she now calls Hawaii home. In her free time, you can find Hailey at the beach, hiking, or behind her camera.
We had the opportunity to ask Hailey about her life in Hawaii:
Q: How would you describe yourself?
A: “I think of myself as very laidback and a free spirit. I am very go-with the flow. That being said, I am a college student and stress is inevitable. But mostly, I think of myself being happy and friendly!”
Q: What are you involved in on campus?
A: “I am involved in Alpha Gamma Delta, and I am currently serving as the chapter’s Sisterhood Coordinator. Joining Greek life been one of the best decisions I’ve made during my college career! I am also the new Her Campus Co-Correspondent with Lena. I am excited to see the chapter grow!”
Q: What is your go-to Netflix binge watch?
A: “That’s a tough one… Either Friends or New Girl. I love both!”
Q: You’re in a long-distance relationship—that’s pretty common for students here in Hawaii. What advice would you give to other LDR survivors?
A: “Long distance is hard, but if you put in the time and effort, you can get through it! Communication and trust are super important; otherwise, you won’t be able to make it work. Cliché, I know… but countdown calendars and snail-mail help make time pass until you’re reunited and it feels so good!”
Q: What is your spirit animal and why?
A: “My spirit animal would probably be an elephant—duh!” *Points to elephant tattoo* “To me, elephants are so elegant and peaceful. They are strong, and don’t let anything hold them back! Plus, they represent luck, and who doesn’t need a little extra luck in life!”
Q: What are you most excited for this upcoming semester?
A: “This semester, I am living with my best friends in our new apartment! I am so excited to beach, spend time with my friends, and just see where life takes me!”
Thanks, Hailey! We can’t wait to get to know you even better as you help lead Her Campus Hawaii this semester!
