Lots of places around the world are experiencing worsening COVID situations right now, and because of that, lots of people are questioning how to celebrate the upcoming holidays. Last year in Hawai’i, trick-or-treating was cancelled for the locals, and I wasn’t really sure what to do to celebrate Halloween safely, so I did nothing. However, this year I have some ideas on how to have a COVID-safe Halloween celebration:
Watch Halloween-y Movies with Your Roomies
There are so many great Halloween films to chose from. There are classic horror and thriller films like It and The Shining, and there are cute films like Halloween Town and Casper. There is something out there for everyone, and the best part about watching them from the comfort of your home is that you can get cozy under some blankets with some popcorn or movie snacks!
Host a Virtual Costume Party
Getting dressed up for Halloween is one thing I sorely miss about pre-COVID life. This year, instead of going out with a bunch of people, host a social hour over Zoom or any other video call platform and get dressed up!
Make Fun Halloween Recipes
There are traditional fall favorites like pumpkin pie or apple cider, but you could also make fun spooky treats, like themed cupcakes or cookies!
Carve a Pumpkin
Pumpkin carving is a great activity that you can do! You could easily do this activity socially-distanced, virtually, or as a solo activity!
Read a Spooky Novel
If group activities aren’t your thing, then this one is for you! There are so many fantastic horror and spooky books out there, like stories by Edgar Allen Poe or Stephen King, that you could choose from to cozy up with!
