Do You Have Senioritis?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hawaii chapter.

It’s the end of the semester and academic school year: you might be one of the lucky ones that will be graduating in a few weeks at the Stan Sherriff Center or you might have another year or so left. Either way, you’ve been in school long enough and summer is almost here. On a scale of 1 to 10, you are SO done with this semester. Find out if you’ve really got Senioritis!

1.  You are:

a.     Actually a senior and graduating this May.

b.    A senior but with a few semesters left to go…

c.    Not a senior, but it feels like you’ve been in school forever!

 2.   In lecture your professor introduces a new assignment. You…

a.     Are too busy not caring to pay attention.

b.     You pay attention in between texting your bestie about your summer plans.

c.     You religiously write down every word AND perhaps even ask a question or two.

 3.  The last time you studied was…

a.    Study? But my final isn’t for another week or so.

b.    If you count making flashcards while watching Netflix and tweeting about being over school.

c.    Last night of course! With finals around the bend, who can afford not to study!

 4.  Your after-class regimen consists of:

a.    Working out at the new Warrior Rec Center and getting the most of your tuition money. You’re still a bit peeved you only get a month to use the gym.

b.    Taking a much-needed nap; your notes and textbook aren’t going anywhere.

c.    You’ve created a highly complex studying schedule that you’ll put to use after your review session.

 5. When someone asks what your plans are for the summer:

a.    It suddenly dawns on you that you’ll be facing the “real world” and after your epic summer adventure that you’ve been planning since freshman year, you really don’t have any plans afterwards.

b.    You respond with a, “Having as much fun as I possibly can before having to start school again in the Fall.”

c.    You begrudgingly respond that you’ll be taking summer school….in Spain!! You’re not graduating anytime soon, you definitely can fit study abroad in your class schedule!

 6.  You need to leave lecture early. You…

a.   Don’t think twice. You just get up and go. But you do close the door quietly behind you; you haven’t lost all sense of respect.

b.   You quietly and carefully pack your bag and wait until your professor’s back is turned to make your escape.

c.   Take half the class debating whether or not to actually leave. Then take 20 minutes crafting your stealthy escape plan.

 7. When studying for your finals, you…

a.   Already calculated your grades and unless you don’t completely bomb your finals, you’re satisfied with your graduating GPA. Then proceed to watch a whole season on Netflix.

b.   Procrastinate until the night or two before, freak out, and cram as much info as you possibly can.

c.   Are nervous, but you’ve been studying for this exam for the past two weeks. You feel pretty prepared.

 8. As you walk out of the lecture hall, you can’t help but feel that you totally bombed it. You…

a.   You feel bad, but only for a second. Who cares? You’re outta here in just 3 weeks.

b.   Remorse for all of 10 minutes and then promise yourself to study harder next semester…probably not

c.   Totally flip out. How could you have let that happen?! This totally ruined your day.

If you’ve answered:

Mostly a’s:

You’ve definitely got senioritis. You only have 3 weeks left, but be careful not to get too wild and free. It’s important to finish strong.

Mostly b’s:

You may have Senioritis. You could be a senior with a bad case of the lazy bug, or you’re not even close to graduating but just dying for summer to start. Either way, you’re so done. You can’t even.

Mostly c’s:

You definitely don’t have Senioritis! Whether you are graduating this May or not, you are ambitious at heart and although you are ready for summer, you are determined to pull through ’til the end.
