5 Times I Thought I was Being an Adult, But Life Proved Me Wrong

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hawaii chapter.

Being grown-up is hard. And even though we are ~legal~ adults, we’re not ~actual~ adults. Really, we’re all just overgrown children. And just when we think we might be growing up, life is here to remind us otherwise. Here are 5 times that I thought I was #adulting, but life laughed at me.

1. Went grocery shopping… But accidentally buys 25-pound watermelon.

I honestly just thought that I was really weak as I carried my 25-pound watermelon around the store. “It’s only like… 10 pounds, right?”

2. Tried to do laundry… Spills laundry detergent all over the floor.

*Proceeds to clean up mess Cinderella style.*

3. Bought my own plane ticket… Accidentally books flight during midterm.

Wow, I’m financially independent! Wait…

4. Cooked dinner for myself… Spills spaghetti sauce on jeans.

At least it tasted good!

5. Tried to stay hydrated… Cuts finger on ice cube.

But like… How?

In the end, no matter how hard life hits back, we just have to keep on trying. Fake it till you make it, right?
