You have made it through your first week of classes and now its time to “get physical” at the infamous
80’s dance! There will be plenty of dancing, sweating, and moonwalking so get ready to bring it back old-school. We put together a guide to help you make this the most memorable 80’s yet or to save you from
making classic freshmen mistakes!

Key outfit items
1. Neon
2. Crop Tops
3. Spandex
4. Off the shoulder cut-tee’s
5. Sweatbands

Accessories
1. Scrunchies
2. Fanny packs
3. Sunglasses
4. Gaudy jewelry
5. Teased hair

Beat the sweat
With most of the freshmen having only experienced the “Supa Fun” dance they can often run into a series of sweaty problems at 80’s dance. While your first experience with Founders may have been tame, at the 80’s dance the true nature of the sweaty, sticky, mosh pit of pit stains is revealed! Trust me you don’t want to be that person who is forced to un-tag every single Facebook picture because of the horrors of sweat stains. Be prepared for mascara streaming down your face as you attempt to put your frazzled drenched hair back up into a side-pony. But it isn’t all bad…the 80’s dance is the perfect opportunity to dance with that cute guy you have been eyeing all customs week and to really let loose after the first week of terrifying classes. So how can you beat the sweat? Avoid sweaters and jackets at all costs. Although your off the shoulder neon sweatshirt may look cute in an 80s workout video, my advice it to wear them at the pre-party and nothing more. Another common mistake is the full-length leggings with leg warmers. Nothing says 80’s like a pair of bright sparkly leggings, but make sure you pair them with a light crop top and minimal layers. Last but not least, waterproof mascara is a key accessory that makes you look at least semi-put together as you stumble out of Founders.

Dancing
One of the best parts of the 80’s party, apart from the outfits, is that it is the first all-school dance. However, if you are single and ready to mingle do not fall into the embarrassing trap of grinding in the middle of an 80’s love ballad. Especially as the band Orange Crush is playing it is not the appropriate time to bust out your most lethal hip thrusting moves. You have been warned. Dance all night long, but keep it classy and within the 80’s theme.

And last but not least, an extra 80’s workout video to help with your dancing endurance!
