The Ultimate Getting Ready Playlist

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Haverford chapter.

It’s the weekend. You’ve made it through hours and hours of class and are going to treat yourself to a break from the library. Sure, you’ll be back on your homework grind tomorrow, but for tonight, it’s the furthest thing from your mind.  With all of the exciting parties and events coming up this semester at Haverford, it’s only right that you perfect the getting-ready playlist.  I’ve put together a list of some tracks that’ll serve as a bumping soundtrack to your hair-doing, makeup applying, and last but not least, “what-shoes-should-I-wear?” deciding. So, turn up your speakers, jam out, and decide what to wear already!

Crizzly Presents Crunkstep
This sick mix comes in just under 45 minutes and features some of hip-hop’s biggest hits with a dubstep twist. If you’re looking to get crunk this weekend, this might be just what you need.

Big Sean-Dance (A$$) (High Rollers Remix)
High Rollers infuse the wobble de wobble de wop with this dance floor favorite, and it doesn’t disappoint. Make that….hammertime.

Calvin Harris ft. Kelis- Bounce
“Well it’s hot, it’s loud, its wild, we bounce to this track and I don’t care what anybody thinks about that/ Hands to the sky and throw your hair back.”
d0-do-do-do-do-do-do-do, dun-da-da-da-da-da-da–need I say more?

Chris Brown- Look At Me Now (TYR Remix)
18 year-old Vegas dubstep producer TYR brings the heavy bass to this Chris Brown classic. Turn it up loud and you’ll be fresher than a….

Gotye ft. Kimbra- Somebody That I Used to Know (Jakob Liedholm Remix)
Australian-Belgian Gotye is invading the airwaves, and with that has come remix upon remix of this catchy song. This soaring track is by far one of the best, produced by 15 year-old Swede Jakob Liedholm.

OCD: Moosh & Twist- Hold it Down
Philly’s own Moosh & Twist go in on this anthem that you’ll be sure to have on repeat. After all, you’ve gotta be number one, cause number two’s for pencils.

3LAU- Girls Who Save the World
If you’re into mashups at all, you need to check out 3LAU. This track combines Nadia’s “Pressure,” Martin Solveig’s “Hello,” Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep,” Daft Punk’s “One More Time,” Chris Brown’s “Yeah 3x,” Britney Spear’s “Til’ the World Ends,” and Swedish House Mafia’s “Save the World.” 3LAU showcases his talents on this massive track.

Afrojack ft. Eva Simmons- Take Over Control
1:03 please. Banger.

White NoiseI Want You, Drake
This Jackson 5 and Drake mashup goes together like that dress and those shoes, to be cliche. But really, it does.

DJ Havana Brown- We Run the Night
What better getting ready song than one that proclaims that we run the night? Just give this insanely catchy gem a listen, preferably loudly, and you too will be ready to run the night.

Florence and the Machine- Shake it Out (Benny Benassi Remix)
“It’s hard to dance with the devil on your back, so shake it out”
Benny Benassi gives this Flo hit a burst of energy, making it into an epic remix that will have you “shaking it out.”

Foster the People- Pumped Up Kicks (Skeet Skeet Remix)
Skeet Skeet! Ok, but really, this is Pumped Up Kicks like you’ve never heard it before. And its banging.

Wynter Gordon- Til Death (Denzal Park Remix)
“Let’s get loud as we celebrate life, til death do we party with the music I die”
D-floor anthem. Getting ready anthem. That’s all.

The Potbelleez- From the Music
Australian house foursome The Potbelleez provide the perfect track to inspire that outfit with this pulsing ode to what other than the music?

Titus Jones- I Wanna Bulletproof Dancer
La Roux, Robyn, Whitney, and T-Swift all in one song? This might be the girl power mashup to end all girl power mashups, and you can’t help but love it.

Fabolous- You Be Killin’ Em
Of course I had to include this quintissential Saturday night track. I know you want to hear about how Fabolous thinks you be killin em’, but try not to repeat it too many times…

Fat Joe ft. Ashanti & Ja Rule- What’s Luv?
Throwback city, but who can deny this track? Bump this one on blast like its 2002, just don’t dress like it.

Avicii x Pryda (ft. PNAU)- Miami Levels Atlanta (Logo Mashup)
I know, I know, we’re all sick of Levels and its remixes and its mashups. However, I had to sneak this one in here. Just give it a listen and you’ll know why.
