This weekend Haverford celebrated the last weekend of the regular semester with a few parties to meet everyone’s tastes. The BCC hosted a luau party with the basketball team for all to enjoy and some alumnae were rumored to be taking over Drinker, no doubt getting up to some mega shenanigans. Up in Founders, the 80s cover band Orange Crush entertained the crowd all night long. It’s not often that we get to enjoy live music on a Saturday night, so this was the perfect way to get people excited for the Haverfest lineup. Refusing to be discouraged by the rain, a solid crowd of Fords came out to crush it in their sexiest outfits. The music was a mash up of 80s hits that were a fun change of pace from the regular assortment of techno. Even though Avicii was sadly missed, the Fords made up for it by dusting off some 80s moves and enjoying the chance to recover from “thesis-itis”.
While some preferred to get down in the mosh-pit, others were perched on the windows to spot the pairs coupling off as the night went on. One guy stepped boldly up on stage, wowing the crowd with his air-guitar and proving his dance moves were anything but jack-ed up. He was later spotted throughout the night holding it down on the ledges with one of Haverford’s hottest DJs. A dancing duo got bissey on the dance floor all night long. These sassy ladies commanded the attention of many fine fellows by not holt-ing anything back by fully embracing the 80s themed cover band. At one point in the night the crowd started chanting for the band to play “Uptown Girl,” however, Orange Crush would not join in the Billy Joel spirit. But the show must go on, and I hear you all got your “Uptown” fix as the song was overheard playing late into the night on Lloyd green. Back in Founders, someone was spotted canoodling in the midst of the crowd. Their cheeks looked a bit rosie, but were they just flushed from the heat or had cupid’s arrow hit the target this time?
Even if you are buried in Magill for the next few weeks, don’t worry because there are still some epic parties in the line-up for this semester. Still to come is the legendary Ho-down, Neon Party, Haverfest, May Day, and of course the highly anticipated Senior Party. Start scrambling for those senior dates, as this party is definitely not one to be missed! Stay classy Haverford.
