In the weeks and months following Hurricane Sandy, many members of the Haverford Community are still rebuilding and recovering. Not only was the school affected on-campus, but also many students will go home this Thanksgiving Break to find their off-campus hometowns struggling to find aid in the aftermath of the storm. Therefore, the Haverford College Center for Peace and Global Citizenship, 8th Dimension, and the Student Activities Office are working together to unite the community relif efforts. If you want to learn more about the relief efforts or be a part of the brainstorming team then contact anyone from the three departments and they will be happy to have your support. Some ideas for a relif campaign include a guest lecture, fundraiser, t-shirt sale (such as the Jetty campaign), or even winter break service trip, but as always any aditional ideas are encouraged! In 2010 the Haverford Community came together to raise $10,000 for Red Cross Aid in the aftermath of the Haiti Earthquake, so we know that the community can come together now to support our professors, students, and campus members who were affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The first step is to check the Haverford website for a list of funds and organizations that offer assistance to the victims of the Hurricane. Either sign up to help in your local town over Thanksgiving and Winter break or get inspired by their ideas to come up with your own campaign at Haverford!

Although the storm may be over, the East Coast and Haverford community members still need your help to rebuild during the Holiday Season. So sign up and get involved for Hurricane Sandy Relief!!
