Want someone to sweep you off your feet? How about blow you away? Well, if so, then don’t look any further because this week’s Campus Cutie has the moves and the speed to do both! Take a look at our senior Southern gentleman, Jarvis Harris and prepare to fall in love.

Who: Jarvis Harris

House: Cabot House

Hometown: Ama, LA

Concentration: Biomedical Engineering

Favorite HUDS meal: Chicken parm

What are you involved in on campus? Track, HCFA (Harvard College Faith and Action), Expressions Dance Company, Eleganza

[Jarvis doing his thing at Eleganza]

Describe yourself in 3 words:

At first Jarvis exclaimed, “oh my gosh, THAT IS HUGE” (referring to the significance of this question of course…), we had a good laugh and then he pondered a bit and settled on “joyful, joyful, yes…”

What is your favorite Harvard memory thus far? “I guess it was when I had a surprise birthday party—my 20th?—my closest friends organized it for me. To just see them all there was very special, especially in a place as busy as Harvard, I really enjoyed that they took the time to all come together for me.”

What do you look for in a significant other? After an extended dreamy gaze, Jarvis responded with an absolute answer of “Generosity. Generosity above all, then comedy, and the ability to be willing to go out of their comfort zone—a willingness for spontaneity.”

What is your best physical trait? That is huge” haha no, but really:  “My legs that carry me swiftly over hurtles ” he says grinning ear to ear because he knows how cheesy that was, then following up with “I would say my smile, but that’s basic.”

[I’d say that smile is pretty great]

Who do you consider to be your celebrity look alike? “Maybe Idgis Elba? Aka the man everyone wants to be.”

Who’s your celebrity crush? “Beyoncé –can’t even help it.”

Describe your ideal date: “My ideal date…” *long pause* “wait I wrote this down yesterdayyy…I WOULD GO POTTERY MAKING, YES followed by dinner and then concluding with an epic night of dancing at a concert or something #bodyrollsonbodyrolls”

Favorite music genre(s):  “I’m so basic for this:  My favorite is soulful R&B –powerful and calming at the same time– and also hip hop. Gotta have something I can move to” *breaks into perfectly executed choreography*

Favorite movie: “I’m a cheap movie watcher, so I don’t remember the very best ones but I would say maybe Shawshank Redemption.”

Favorite Quote: “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.”

Surprising fact about you: “I’ve never had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in my life—the first time I even tasted peanut butter was freshman year in Annenberg” DUDE. WHAT!?

Most exciting moment of your life: “Maybe winning Heps? Or maybe that time I went to the Beyonce concert? I did get into Harvard on my 18th birthday, but nah. I’d say when I competed at LSU last spring and, what was it? Something like 43 of my friends and family came to watch me and cheer me on. I loved that day—to see their love for me” Ahh, he’s all about family.

[Oh, and he’s an Ivy champ hurdler, girls]

Most embarrassing moment of your life: “Probably when I pulled my hamstring doing a split last year during the dress rehearsal for Eleganza. It was just three hours before the show was about to go on—damn, I ended up dancing on a torn hamstring. Not the smartest move. I mean, how embarassing is that? THAT’S HOW THE GREAT JARVIS GOES DOWN: DANCING ON THE STAGE IN FRONT OF KIDS. Jesus was on my side though, only took five and a half weeks to recover before I was training again.” *impromptu Michelle Williams “Say Yes” song and dance number*

Use your imagination:

What is your quirkiest trait? *laughs because it just happened* “I burst out into musicals—spontaneously break out into song and dance whenever my heart desires it.”

At any given moment, you are most likely to be found where on campus?“At the track, goodness, I live there. But, I’d say the three places I frequent most are the engineering labs, track, and Cabot– in that order.”

Any Shoutouts?

“Shoutout to my mama—keepin me strong and keepin me going. Shoutout to all: Come to the Expressions show to watch me grindin’ and dancing’. Also come to the Harvard/Yale track meet this weekend to watch me jumping over hurtles and run, baton blazin in hand. Come see us kill Yale like their name is Fail! Oh, and shoutout to Dean Rakesh and Stephanie Khurana—Cabot House Masters: for inspiring me both through their actions and their support to ‘Write my own story.'”

Better catch him while you can, girls!
