Halloween is over, and we all know that means the Christmas season is right around the corner, so it is time to get the Christmas playlists together. It can’t be ‘Tis the season” without the music. During this time it maybe is cold, but Christmas time brings warmth and happiness. Christmas music is like the icing on a cake, it makes everything better. I love Christmas it makes my heart smile, and to have music that describes and assures that feeling makes it even better.

I am very much the, “oh it is November 1st time to get ready for Christmas,” person. I know there are so many options when starting up a Christmas playlist, and I understand that the songs can get repetitive but I am here to help you get started. The guide to having the perfect Christmas playlist starts here.

Here are my top 5 Christmas albums by black artists

Merry Christmas by Mariah Carey

We’re going to start off strong this album here is a classic, this should be in everyone’s playlist, it has all the songs needed with the perfect tone for a happy holiday.

Best Man Holiday Soundtrack

If you have yet to watch the movie I recommend it one hundred percent, disclaimer it is a tear-jerker. The soundtrack to this movie had no skips and every artist on the soundtrack was black. The songs in this soundtrack make you want to smile, hum to yourself, and think about all the good the holidays have to offer. These songs are perfect for nights when you just want to cuddle up with hot cocoa and watch the lights on the tree twinkle.

Christmas with Nat King Cole

The best way to describe this album is satisfying. His voice is enchanting and I can listen to it all day. It just makes all the songs sound timeless and nostalgic. This album is a classic.

Give Love at Christmas by The Temptations

The harmony in this album is chef’s kiss. This albums really makes me feel like I am sitting at my grandma’s house baking Christmas cookies for Santa.

Another Kind of Christmas by Neyo

This album is the perfect mix of making you wanna dance and something to listen to for good vibes. This is another album that captivates the true spirit of Christmas and makes the heart warm, nice background music to listen to while decorating and setting up for the season.

My favorites from each album consist of Mariah Carey’s, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” from the Best Man Holiday Soundtrack, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” sang by Monica, Nat King Cole’s, “The Christmas Song,” The Temptation’s, “Silent Night,” and Neyo’s, “I Want to Come Home for Christmas.”

Some honorable that could definitely be some add ons are Cheetah girls, “Cheetah-Licious Christmas,” and Mindless Behavior’s, “Christmas With My Girl.” These songs are to feed the inner fangirl in me.

It is the start of the holidays, and the good vibes are about to roll in. Take in the moments and enjoy them happy holidays and don’t forget about thanksgiving ;)
