Congratulations are in order for Hip-Hop’s favorite bad girl, Rihanna, as she crosses over into the fashion industry; winning ‘Shoe of the Year,’ from Foot Wear News- making her the first woman to ever hold the title.  

Rih Rih’s iconic collaboration with Puma to create the Fenty Puma creeper is the shoe that won her the title and making her queen of the sneaker industry. Rih is now apart of sneaker royalty alongside Kanye West’s Yeezy Boost 350 and Stan Smith’s Adidas.

Footwear News dedicates it posts to the hottest shoe releases and gives insight on celebrity and designer collaborations. Rihanna will claim her footwear throne in front of the fashion world on November 29th at the 30th Annual Foot Wear News Achievement Awards in New York City.

According to their website, the ‘Shoe of the Year’ is determined by not only sales, but social media presence and the overall hype around the release. It’s no surprise that the Fenty creeper was the “only choice for 2016.” They reportedly sold out in only three hours on its inaugural release!

We all know that setting trends is in Rihanna’s DNA. From when the Fenty creeper was first spotted on Rih, while she was leaving a restaurant in California one night, it didn’t take long for the shoe to gain its own fame.  Since its release, the sneaker has been the culprit of site crashing and department store bombardment. It is no secret that Rihanna’s fans love her and her creations.
