On Sunday, October 1, 2017, a deadly shooting took place in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Route 9 Harvest Festival. It was a massive concert consisting of about 20,000 plus more people. The white male, Stephen Paddock, a retired and twice divorced accountant without children from Nevada, raided a concert with gunfire making it the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.

According to CNN, “At about 10:08 p.m. Sunday, the Route 91 Harvest festival, an outdoor country music concert, was interrupted by the sound of gunfire.”. During the performance of country singer Jason Aldean, gunshots were heard causing everybody to scatter quickly.

The New York Times also found that, “Police say Paddock fired for nine to 11 minutes after the first 911 call came in. Paddock had set up cameras inside his hotel suite and in the hallway. Police were not aware whether the devices were transmitted.”

After Paddock shot at dozens of people he took his own life at the hotel where he committed the shooting. At least 59 people were killed in this shooting and about 500 have been injured. Authorities have searched Paddock’s home and found at least 19 firearms, explosives, and several thousand rounds of ammunition.

The F.B.I is trying to discover a motive for this horrible attack by searching Paddock’s bank statements and electronic devices, but investigators have not found signs that held he held extremist views. This attack was planned and it is very saddening that another mass shooting has been taken place because of someone’s use of firearms. When is enough, enough?
