Homecoming season is approaching and the excitement around campus is inevitable. The next week will be filled with lit parties, fashion shows, and performances we won’t forget. “A Different Homecoming Theme” gives us nostalgic 90’s vibes and we are here for it! Here’s a list of some of the many events going on at our home by the sea:

Sunday – October 20

Why not start homecoming off with some spiritual healing? Sunday Best gives us a chance to get our praise and worship on before the week starts. This event is set out to discover the best gospel talent on campus. Come dressed to impress and ready to praise the Lord!

Come out to Holland hall and turn up at the roller skating party sunday night! Whether you skate or not, this event is the perfect way to bring in homecoming. Grab some friends, some skates, and roll in to homecoming the right way!

Monday – October 21

Coronation is one of the many beloved Hampton University traditions. This event crowns and welcomes our New Hampton University, Carmen Jackson and Mr.Pirate, Jamil Gambari. The Mr. and Ms. of each organization on campus will be recognized and honored during this event as well.

Tuesday – October 22

Watch glamorous models rip the runway at the fashion show Tuesday night! This event will showcase the flyest outfits, along with the best walks. The show consists of regular admission and VIP which includes a great view of the models and refreshments. Pop out and witness the culture come to life.

Wednesday – October 23

Don’t miss out on the funniest event of the year! Two teams of comedians go head to head along with special performances from the finalists of People’s Choice. Watch the blue squad, the black squad, and the wylin’ out girls fill your night with laughs and come out Wednesday October 23, at 6pm in the Student Center atrium.

Thursday – October 24

The concert everyone’s been waiting for. Dababy will take over Hampton University, Thursday night, in the convocation center. The rapper is best known for his lead single, “Suge”off his debut album Baby on Baby. This is the THE event! Don’t miss out.

Friday, October 25th

Last but not least, homecoming week will wrap up with the NPHC step show. This event will be held in the convocation center at 7pm. This is one of the littest events of the week and you won’t want to miss it.

The next week will be filled with exciting events for both students and alumni.  Be safe, party responsibly, and make memories!

Taylor Cooper

Hampton U '23

My name is Taylor Cooper. I’m a psychology major from St. Petersburg, Florida. I’m blessed with the opportunity to attend The Illustrious Hampton University as an incoming freshman. As a military child, I’ve been able to live all over the world. I’m very appreciative of the experiences I’ve had, and those to come.
I have the privilege to serve as Campus Correspondent for the Her Campus Hampton U Chapter a second year! I am a graduating Senior, Strategic Communications major, Marketing minor currently studying at the illustrious Hampton University. I am from Richmond, VA (shoutout to the 804!). In addition to classes, I run my own creative agency, Tiana Nichelle Marketing where I specialize in social media management, content creation, public relations, and branding. My love for the PR and Communications industry is the reason my ultimate goal is to become a celebrity publicist in the upcoming years! Her Campus Hampton U is an organization that is near and dear to me and I am so happy to be a leader of this ELITE chapter!
