Let’s be real with ourselves – dating in college is not at all how the movies and the TV shows painted it to be. We all went to college expecting to meet the Dwayne to our Whitley and we all were met with extreme disappointment. Ladies, that does not mean our journey of finding love has to be over just yet, it just means our standards are high! The men we have met have not been able to meet them, and that is alright.

Unfortunately for us, we live in a society that prioritizes situationships and entanglements over taking the time to get to know the people we’re interested in. Does that mean we as women have to settle? Absolutely not. If you are talking or dating a young man and you find yourself constantly having to minimize yourself or your expectations, he is not the one for you. It can be quite easy to get swept up in the overwhelming relationship posts and long declarations of love on social media. Sometimes in order to fit in or hop on a trend, we just settle for whoever hits us up or slides in the Dms.

Next time you think you are serious about a guy, ask yourself, “Am I serious about him or am I just settling because no one else is around?” Never settle. This goes for everyone. Sooner or later, the one will be coming your way and you will know that it is right. You won’t have to lower your standards or settle for less than you deserve.

Humans settle because of fear.

Do not be afraid of being alone or afraid that you will never meet your other half. That is simply not true. It’s okay to have fun and to date around, but always remember what your end goal is.

All of you queens deserve nothing less than the best, so you should always be looking for the best.
