Hamptonian Holidays

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hampton U chapter.

In just a few more days we are officially done with the fall semester. (Que the praise dance). With finals coming up, most Hampton students are looking forward to the holidays spent at home with their loved ones. From Christmas tree decorating to hot chocolate, Her Campus was curious to know what our fellow Hamptonians are most looking forward to this holiday break.

“Every Christmas we go to my great- grandfather’s house and we listen to Christmas music, eat dinner, and then do the tree call. It’s really great to see all of the young kids delivering the gifts because it’s something that I used to do when I was young and what my mom did when she was young. It’s really a tradition for us to have the little kids pass out the gifts to my huge family, and I love it!” – Daizha Lankford

“Every year we wait until everyone is available to help put up the Christmas tree and decorations outside of the house. We make hot chocolate, bake cookies and listen to old Christmas hits while we light the fire. Spending time with family is always something I look forward too.” – Ciara Benson

“My family does an ugly sweater contest. So each year we go out to the craft store, get a bunch of supplies and sweaters. Also, in my family only the little children get presents. So Christmas morning after the little ones open their gifts….it’s competition time !! We vote with a point system and everything. This activity keeps us busy Christmas morning and afternoon until it’s time for dinner. After dinner (and dessert ) we ride around the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights.” – Carlia Notyce
