Hampton Man Crush: Charles “CJ” Haywood

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hampton U chapter.

Meet Charles Jordan “CJ” Haywood, a senior, Business Management major from Houston, Texas! This week we go to talk one on one with this Hampton Man and go in depth from graduation plans to relationship deal breakers.

HC: What organizations/clubs are you involved in on campus?

HMC: Well this year I am one of the Executive Co-presidents for the Freddye T. Davy Honors College, a member of one of the best and important organizations on campus, the HU’s Student Recruitment Team, a part of the Southwest Pre-alumni council, and a Gloucester Institute Emerging Leader! I’ve also been a Presidential Fellow, served on the Resident Assistant Association Executive board, Mister Honors College, and Mister Junior last semester! Needless to say I do a lot, haha but you’re Hampton life is only as illustrious as you make it so I had to do it right.

HC: What are your plans after graduation?

HMC: After graduation I want to work at a consulting firm while teaching martial arts classes! There’s a difference between what I want to do and what I’ll actually be doing though *laughs* so just know I’m gonna be somewhere doing something great.

HC: What article of clothing best describes your personality?

HMC: Hmmm… A brotha would have to say a v-neck. You can go casual with a v-neck or dressy. Either way, you’re not basic. It brings character even the most basic fit. I like to add to people’s lives and not leave them dull or plain. It’s my passion to be a light and to help others illuminate that piece of light that they carry in them. It’s my duty to help others get lost in the sauce.

HC: What is a deal breaker in a relationship for you?

HMC: If the shorty can’t sing Same Girl or International Players Anthem with me word for word, sorry love you’re not for me…*laughs* naw I can live with that in the SHORT RUN but a true deal breaker would have to be someone stuck in complacency. You could be the most beautiful girl that I’ve EVER seen with all of my favorite attributes to match, but if you have no vision or an internal sense of intellectual, spiritual, life, and physical advancement, issa no for me dawg.

HC: Are you looking for long term?

HMC: Let’s be real. I am a graduating senior that’s about to start living a new life. If we’re not on the same boat by now then hey, I hope to see you on the next one lol but seriously, if a young lady, and I do mean lady, sparks my interest, genuine relationships aren’t meant to have a timestamp on them.

HC: If a young lady was interested how should she approach you?

HMC: I mean I’m a busy guy. One thing I love about women is effort and assertiveness. If I see that you recognize that my time is special and limited, and you have the CONFIDENCE to approach me and ask me for my time in the right way, then you’re already ahead of the game and you’ve got my attention. I’m telling you I LOVE confidence and assertiveness. If I find myself interested in you after we hang out for a bit, I think they’d love my pursuit *laughs*

HC: Do you believe in once a cheater always a cheater?

HMC: Of course not. There’s a reason people cheat, but if you don’t try to improve yourself after that, there’s where my problem is. You have to face your reason and realize that it was wrong then move on.

HC: Does body count matter to you?

HMC: It matters to an extent, but it ultimately depends on the person and the context. Six bodies can either be a lot or a few, depending on if that person just started having sex last week or 4 years ago. If you love somebody and are really feeling their vibes, I’m talking REALLY feeling, then you have to figure out what baggage you’re willing to deal with and what baggage you’re not even going to think about carrying. At the end of the day, if I’m making my body available to you to lay down with, I’m literally opening my temple to you and I don’t want any unwanted visitors, leave that at the door if you’re with me and don’t look back.

HC: What is the first thing you notice about a female?

HMC: Lol depends on if it’s the weekend or the weekday haha but I’ll say this, my heart recognizes a genuine soul first. My eyes recognize a smile. Lastly, the male in me recognizes the lips first, but if I’m coming up from behind her, you got the math on this one *shrugs*. So I think I’m pretty well balanced if you ask me.
